Description

Exclusively providing a Thunderbolt™/NAS/iSCSI SAN triple solution, the TVS-1582TU offers four high-bandwidth Thunderbolt™ 3 ports for optimizing 4K video transfer and online editing. It is a perfect match for Thunderbolt-equipped Mac® and Windows® users for 4K workflows, file storage and high-speed sharing. The compact rack-mounted form factor makes the TVS-1582TU especially useful for SNG/OB van live media production that requires frequent relocation. The TVS-1582TU adopts 7th Generation Intel® 14nm multi-core processors and was designed around the concept of tiered storage, application-based partitioning and network traffic distribution to fulfill critical tasks with sophisticated capabilities.

3. Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) doubles its theoretical potential for speed when compared to Thunderbolt 2 (20 Gbps). This results in the TVS-1582TU’s file transfer speed increasing from 900 MB/s to 1,600 MB/s.

Application-based Partitioning

Every application requires different performance. For example, Surveillance Station requires higher-priority access to storage to ensure the integrity of recordings, while normal transmission speeds are sufficient for file sharing. However, when multiple applications are running on the same storage media, the required throughput level cannot be guaranteed as the storage media is busy handling I/O requests from all of them. The TVS-1582TU supports SSD and SATA hard drives, and they can be configured as independent partitions for different applications, ensuring a sufficient throughput level for every application.

Network Traffic Distribution

With 1GbE ports, 10GbE ports and Thunderbolt™3 ports, the TVS-1582TU allows applications to use dedicated interfaces to meet network traffic distribution requirements. Network interfaces can also be easily managed with the Network & Virtual Switch app, which enables optimized network resources for TVS-1582TU, virtual machines and containerized apps. Access 10GbE networks over Thunderbolt with Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet (T2E)

As Apple® computers do not natively support 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Mac® users previously needed to purchase a Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter to connect to high-speed Ethernet networks. The innovative Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet (T2E) allows computers without Ethernet ports (such as MacBook Pro®) to access 10GbE network resources over a Thunderbolt™ connection to the TVS-1582TU. This saves users from having to buy adapters or converters and greatly streamlines the connectivity process.

Note: T2E transmission speed may be affected when using a virtual switch. QNAP aims to continue improving and optimizing T2E performance.

Thunderbolt™ 3/NAS/iSCSI SAN triple solution

The TVS-1582TU can simultaneously run general Ethernet services in addition to the Thunderbolt™ 3 network, completely independently and with no bandwidth interference. Thunderbolt™ NAS mode

Simply attach your computer to the TVS-1582TU with a Thunderbolt™ 3 cable, and you will find the TVS-1582TU in Finder/File Explorer with accessible shared folders available for you. It is plug-and-use, and completely simple.

Ethernet NAS mode

The TVS-1582TU also features Ethernet networking for flexible file sharing across multiple devices simultaneously using SMB/CIFS, AFP and NFS for sharing across Windows®, Mac® and Linux®/UNIX® networks. Use Qfinder Pro to find the TVS-1582TU attached to your computer, and you can find the Thunderbolt IP and Ethernet IP for file sharing based on your needs.

iSCSI SAN block-based mode

The TVS-1582TU supports iSCSI SAN configuration, while the Thunderbolt™ interface can contribute a lot to iSCSI SAN storage performance. After creating an iSCSI target on the TVS-1582TU, you can access the iSCSI with your computer* through Thunderbolt IP.

Attach three Mac® workstations to the TVS-1582TU via Thunderbolt™ 3 ports for online video editing, while the remaining Thunderbolt™ 3 port is used for storage expansion by connecting up to six NAS expansion enclosures (TX-500P / TX-800P). You can also take advantage of the built-in 10GbE LAN card for multi-device file sharing over a 10GbE network at the same time.
